Fellow Lords:

I believe we should have some framework for the establishment of our Alliance and to facilitate any future changes in an organized fashion. So for discussion purposes only, I attach the beginings (only some of what we should have in place) of a constitution. It is only the first draft of a partially complete document, so the reason for posting is to get your feedback and ideas so that we can build on this document and eventually come up with a finished draft.

Lords of Honor Constitution


Preamble:

We the Lords of Honor, in order that we may abide by a higher ethical standard of being, provide for mutual protection among its membership and allies and uphold the rules of law, justice and democratic authority; do hereby establish and adhere to The Lords of Honor Constitution contained as follows:

Article 1: Lordship
Article 1.1
Acceptance of a Lordship title requires adherence to the following principles:

1.) Honor - Our actions speak louder than our words. Honor must be lived through our actions.
2.) Honesty - When we speak, it must be the truth.
3.) Trust - We must be able to trust our Fellow Lords.
4.) Justice - We do not prey on other active players like common thieves. At times we will attack other players, but the reasons must be just and honorable.
5.) Loyalty - We will come to the aid of a fellow Lord if his/her cause is just.

Article 2: The Lords of Honor Executive Branch

Article 2.1
In accordance with the rules and powers set out by the being called Gameforge, four mandatory offices are hereby established as follows:

Leader, Diplomat, Home Secretary and General

All four offices shall be democratically elected and shall hold office at the pleasure of the Lords of Honor Legislative Branch (herein after called “The House of Lords”).

Article 2.2
Other executive positions may be established by formal approval of the House of Lords.

Article 3: The Lords of Honor Legislative Branch (The House of Lords)

Article 3.1
The House of Lords shall be comprised of all “active” members in good standing of the Lords of Honor Alliance.

Members that have allowed their account to go into “inactive” status are temporarily considered to be no longer in good standing, until such time as they become “active” again.

Members who have been suspended by the House of Lords or who have been conditionally suspended by the Leader shall be considered to be no longer in good standing, until such time as they are reinstated by the House of Lords.

Article 3.2
The House of Lords shall have the following powers:

1.) To elect the four mandatory Executive Branch Postions being: Leader, Diplomat, Home Secretary and General

2.) Subject to a duly constituted impeachment process, to remove any of the four mandatory Executive Branch Postions prior to a general election.

3) Subject to a duly constituted appeal process, to permanently remove any Lord from the Alliance for misconduct.

4.) Approve changes to the Lords of Honor Constitution by majority vote of all Lords in good standing.

5.) Declare a formal Alliance vs. Alliance war.

6.) Declare a formal Alliance vs. Alliance peace treaty to cease Alliance vs. Alliance war.


Article 4: The Lords of Honor Judicial Branch (The Honor Judges)

Article 4.1
The Honor Judges shall be democratically elected and shall hold office at the pleasure of the House of Lords.

Article 4.2
The roles and powers of the Honor Judges shall be as follows:

1.) To adjudicate, (by majority vote of all “sitting” Honor Judges), all appeals concerning player misconduct and to convey such decisions to the House of Lords for consideration and possible final approval by the House of Lords.

2.) To contribute to the refinement and ammendment of the Lords of Honor Constitution.


Article 5: Ammendments to the Lords of Honor Constitution

Article 5.1
Only by majority approval of the members in good standing can the Lords of Honor Constitution be ammended.
